Alta Bates Summit Foundation To compensate for cuts in California’s Cancer Detection Program: Every Woman Counts, this program will provide comparable screening and diagnostic services for low-income, uninsured women 40 to 49 in Alameda County. The Gabriella Patser Program Provides access to screening and diagnostic services to low income, uninsured women under 40; expands to women 40 to 49 who are now ineligible for California’s Detection Program in all nine Bay Area counties. Helps mitigate the emotional toll of unpaid bills by offering financial assistance to low income San Francisco residents. Breast Health Access for Women with Disabilities (BHAWD) at Alta Bates Hospital Provides free clinical breast exams, self-breast exam education and training, and mammogram referral when needed, education and training for women with disabilities. All services are provided by a specially trained breast health nurse in an accessible exam room and on a universal accessible exam table. Translation services are available. Canyon Ranch This is a thoughtful group experience fostering healing, hope and vitality. for Recovery Provides women whose lives have been profoundly affected by breast cancer with the opportunity to experience physical, emotional and spiritual healing through a fly-fishing retreat. The retreat is open to women living in the Bay Area. The Ceres Community Project Sonoma County teens come together to prepare nourishing food for families facing breast health challenges. Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic Integrative Support for Low-income Women with Metastatic Breast Cancer Serves low-income women living with advanced breast cancer by providing treatment and emergency services. Women’s Support Program Provides in-home end of life support to Latinas in San Francisco County. Comprehensive Breast Health Care Access Screening and diagnostic services for low income, uninsured women and men in Marin County who have no access to comprehensive breast care. Community
Action Marin Provides breast cancer education, translation, referrals and support services to primarily low-income immigrants from Southeast Asia, China, Korea and the former Russian Republics. Community Health Clinic Ole Provides outside referral services in Napa County, to low-income, uninsured patients whose initial breast exams or mammograms indicate the need for further screenings. Community Health Partnership, Inc. Provides breast cancer screening and mammography services to reduce late stage breast cancer diagnoses in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. To Celebrate Life Breast Cancer Foundation Fund for Supplementary & Complementary Care and Open Access Initiative Provides additional support services, including physical and emotional care, to end-stage breast cancer patients and their families. Institute for Health & Healing Holistic Support for Breast Cancer Patients Offers scholarships for holistic care services for patients in treatment in Marin County. Member’s only website with health information and breast cancer discussion groups. La Clinica De La Raza, Inc. Provides access to free screening and diagnostic services for uninsured, primarily Latina women, who are ineligible for other programs in Contra Costa County. Latina
Breast Cancer Agency Provides on-going breast health education and free screening services to low-income Latina women with little or no insurance living in San Mateo. Also assists Latinas 40 and older to enroll in Every Woman Counts Cancer Detection program. Latinas Contra Cancer Targets at-risk Latina women aged 40 to 49 for mammograms as a result of changes in California’s Cancer Detection Program in Santa Clara County. |

Living Supports low-income, underinsured breast cancer patients in Marin County with emergency services and benefits counseling during treatment and recovery. Marin
Community Clinics Provides funds for breast cancer preventive care and education for all adult female patients during at least one medical visit per year; plus assistance in enrolling in public health insurance programs to ensure no-cost screening services. Part of the Health and Human Services Epidemiology Program. Diagnostics for Women Under 40 For uninsured women in Marin presenting symptoms of breast cancer, MGH provides diagnostic screening including digital mammograms, sonograms, and ultrasounds. Marin
General Hospital - Marin Cancer Institute Hosts support groups for breast cancer patients in active treatment and offers scholarships for retreats for patients with metastatic disease. Marin General Hospital - Marin Cancer Institute To Celebrate Life Breast Cancer Foundation-Harbor Point Fund Supports diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds, MRIs, and ultrasound guided biopsies to foster earlier breast cancer diagnosis among underserved patients in Marin County. General Foundation funds also help MGH to fill the gap created by cutbacks in California’s Cancer Detection Program. Meals of Marin Prepares and delivers meals to breast cancer patients in treatment in Marin County. Breast cancer information from the National Cancer Institute, part of the U.S. National Institutes of Health Ravenswood Family Health Center Serves women 40 to 49 no longer eligible for California’s Cancer Detection Program with screening and diagnostics in San Mateo County. Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital Cancer Library Healing Through Painting Breast Cancer Support Group Provides support groups that utilize art as a creative expression for healing from breast cancer. Lifelines Breast Cancer Program Provides transportation vouchers to and from treatment, and food vouchers for low-income and medically underserved San Franciscans with breast cancer. Southwest Community Health Center Provides diagnostics for women under 40 with initial findings requiring diagnostic mammograms, sonograms and ultrasounds and who do not qualify for the State Cancer Detection Program Impact Wellness Program Provides fitness evaluations, exercise and training recommendations, group exercise, and yoga classes to increase survivorship among people living with breast cancer during and after treatment. The program utilizes health club facilities in Marin and San Francisco counties. Sutter North Bay Women’s Health Center Integrative Health and Healing Services Provides free and low-fee complementary therapies and support groups for women in breast cancer treatment in Sonoma County. Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center, Inc. Vida Con Esperanza Latina Breast Cancer Support Group Provides psychosocial support services for Spanish-speaking women with breast cancer in Southern Alameda County. Vida Con Esperanza (Life with Hope) is a space where Latinas find culturally appropriate and linguistically sensitive breast cancer support services. Women’s Cancer Resource Center Offers financial assistance to low income women being treated for beast cancer in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Zero
Breast Cancer (formerly Marin Breast Cancer Watch) A nonprofit organization dedicated to finding the causes of breast cancer through community participation in the research process. They focus on identifying environmental factors and the role they play in the development of breast cancer at all stages of life and across generations. |
