Alice TannerVeronica DeMartini

Veronica DeMartini was a California high school state champion in track and field, ranked all-American athlete at both Cal Poly and UCLA, and was elected into the Marin County Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003. Always a big believer in giving back to her community, she has been involved in PTA, developed and supported athletic teams in Marin County, was a volunteer grief counselor at hospice of Petaluma and Marin Aids Project, and a massage therapist – all with the belief that  one person can make a difference.

When diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, she educated herself about the services and support in Marin County, and is now part of the Community Involvement Group (CIG) for the new women’s study being launched by the Marin Health & Human Services. She also sits on the Breast Cancer Coordinating Counsel (BCCC) and supports increased education and services for lymphedema.

Veronica was a model in 2004, and has worked on Stepping Out for the last three years. In 2006 she was named Volunteer of the Year for her work with Stepping Out To Celebrate Life.
