Those who bought tickets for this stupendous tennis event at Harbor Point Tennis Club in Marin County were not disappointed. Sponsors and VIPs were treated to a cocktail party on Friday night where they could meet some of the biggest names in tennis in the recently remodeled Harbor Point Clubhouse.

On Saturday, Chris Evert, Tracy Austin, Conchita Martinez, Mary Joe Fernandez, Mary Lou Daniels, Rick Leach and Jared Palmer were joined by celebrity players Rick Barry and Jim Barnett of NBA fame, Eric Braedon (star of The Young and the Restless), and local KGO sports radio icon, Rich Wolcoff.   After the day’s spectacular tennis, a Gala was held on Saturday night at the Marin Jewish Community Center. Dinner accompanied live and silent auctions, which raised funds for both Youth Tennis Advantage and To Celebrate Life Breast Cancer Foundation .

On Sunday, it was more tennis.   The celebrity players retired for the day and the famous pros played on with members of the ladies’ tennis teams from Stanford University and the University of California at Berkeley in a team tennis format.  Team Tracy Austin and Team Chris Evert fought through the afternoon. Chris Evert’s team prevailed at the end of closely contested rounds.  It was a tennis players’ dream to watch the tennis, up close and personal, in this special two-day venue at Harbor Point.

To Celebrate Life Breast Cancer Foundation is so very grateful for the community-minded and generous spirit of the Harbor Point Charitable Foundation and particularly, the Kaliski family, for their sacrifice and hard work in our behalf. Their support provides a tremendous infusion of resources for those living with breast cancer in the Bay Area.

The proceeds from the sale of that candle were divided between To Celebrate Life Breast Cancer Foundation and Light a Heart.

Our thanks to Strawberry Village for including us in their celebration.

Suzan Z, The Breast of Broadway, and Wine Women & Song

Susan Zelinksy has corralled her musical talent, artistic friends and headliner Bay Area venues to raise funds for breast cancer education and direct patient services through “Wine, Women and Song” and “The Breast of Broadway.” These benefit concerts date back to 1998, after Susan’s family experienced breast cancer and she put her creativity to work on behalf of others living with cancer. Susan Zelinsky has been a long-time supporter of one of our premier annual fund-raising events, Rally To Celebrate Life.

“Wine, Women and Song” is an all-volunteer effort of musical performers united in our cause. Their generosity of spirit and time has broadened the volunteer participation of donors to individuals and families experiencing cancer. Susan has received rave reviews for her music, and the “Wine, Women and Song” artists have joined to produce a CD that enlivens us all. This year’s program was held in September of 2006, and the evening was a benefit for To Celebrate Life, Rally  and Zero Breast Cancer.

"The Breast of Broadway" is a once-a-year musical journey through the classics of Broadway, with the goal being to provide awareness of breast cancer through laughter and song. Not an easy feat. But once again this year on October 22, Susan Z and her fabulous cast made the evening a rousing success.

We are most grateful for their energy, their humor and their dedication to our cause as their cause.
